Khaled holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Marine Engineering from Suez Canal University, Egypt. He started in a Suez Canal shipyard, where hull structure, construction and repair were the foundation of his work. He went to sea in 1985 and spent many years as a marine engineer on blue-water ocean-going cargo ships and bulk carriers, operating and maintaining main propulsion engines, auxiliary machinery, and fuel, cooling and electrical systems.
Over more than 35 years he has worked with marine propulsion, mechanical and electrical systems, and later led the operation, maintenance and renewal of large portfolios of buildings and plant in Ontario.
In Canada he has stayed close to boats throughout, owning, maintaining and repairing many types of recreational vessels over the years, both power and sail, so he knows first-hand what owners face and where problems hide.
That background shapes how he surveys: engines, shafts, cooling, fuel and electrical systems are assessed by someone who has designed, run and repaired them, and every finding is explained in plain language with a clear priority.
